Appeared at NEFFA 2017:
The Piano is a Folk Instrument Too!P Saturday April 22, 5:00pm to 5:50pm, Middle School Auditorium Stage [show on grid]
No banjo? No mando? No problem. In this workshop, participants will learn how to use the piano as an entire 'folk orchestra,' providing chords, rhythmic accompaniment, and solo parts for traditional vocal tunes. We'll explore the ways we can translate for keys the strum pattern of a guitar and the picking pattern of a banjo; we'll also discover how the piano may provide a traditional folk singer with even better ways to accompany a tune than other string instruments!
